Government of Western Australia - Driving a culture of collaborative innovation

Crowdicity is trusted by Western Australia’s Land Information Authority to support a culture of collaborative innovation. Nationally recognised for innovation, Landgate uses Crowdicity to engage and empower its staff, capturing the best and brightest ideas to leverage the potential of its people in solving business challenges. Their mission is simple: to make Landgate a better organisation for its customers, its people and its community.

Landgate is responsible for managing property and land information across 2.64 million km². This is no mean feat, requiring best in class technology and a frictionless user experience. As an organisation, they define innovation as ‘change that adds value’, realised through a balance of incremental or radical improvement. Their innovation program provides a sandbox for trialing ideas - a safe place to develop, test and demonstrate value without large investment. Landgate’s vision is to use these learnings to become a world-renowned innovative agency that shapes the way government operates and collaborates.

That journey is well underway. In 2016 Landgate were named as one of the country's most innovative companies, coming in at number 22 in Australian Financial Review's 'Top 50 Most Innovative list. In 2017 Landgate was the subject of a Princeton University case study on transformation, leading to international opportunities in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Landgate sees collaboration as an essential ingredient for maintaining a successful innovation program. Its people are asked to allocate 5% of their working day to contributing in ‘Idea Zone’ (its Crowdicity platform).

According to Rebecca Prior, Landgate Innovation Manager, it was ‘Crowdicity’s ease of use, unparalleled support and genuine interest in driving their innovation efforts forward’ that secured Landgate’s business.

In 2016 Landgate launched a location technology hub known as SPUR to provide data, support, partnership and investment opportunities to emerging Western Australian based location businesses. In 2018, Landgate will use the external side of its ideas management system to engage further with stakeholders and the community.

The Crowdicity platform will help us to achieve two key priorities - enhancing the way we engage with stakeholders, and delivering exceptional customer experience. The system's ease-of-use and functionality will make it a breeze to collaborate with start-ups, government and industry on key projects, and to garner feedback on how people want to transact with us in the future. Thank you Crowdicity for bringing us one step closer to achieving our vision!
